Pohang Steel Co of Korea, on 30 August 2005,
incorporated its Indian subsidiary, Posco India Pvt Ltd, that would implement
the 12 million tpa integrated steel plant in Orissa.
The Indian company has been registered with the
Registrar of Companies, Orissa, under the Companies Act, 1956.
Mr Soung Sik has been appointed Managing Director
of the new company, while Mr Tae-Hyun Jeong would be Dy. Managing Director. The
company will have a workforce of 80 people comprising 50 Koreans (both stationed
in India and Korea) and 30 Indians.

Posco India's immediate priorities include
resettlement and rehabilitation programme, mine development and successful
completion of the feasibility report, of which the detailed study on water,
rail, road, electricity and other related issues will be completed by November
2005.
