Tata Steel has outlined a long-term plan of
attaining steel making capacity of 33-34 million tpa by 2015. The capital outlay
has been estimated at Rs.1 trillion, at current prices.
The company has estimated global steel demand to
grow by 3-4 per cent over the next 25 years, then reaching 1 billion tonnes per
year.
The envisaged capacity would include worldwide
facilities under the Tata Steel fold, including overseas acquisitions.
