National Highway Authority of India has awarded
projects worth over Rs.1,000 crore during August 2005 for constructing a total
of 284 km of highways.
Hindustan Construction Co will construct a 42 km
stretch between Ayodhya and Lucknow for Rs.250 crore. HCC has also bagged the
contract for four-laning a 29 km stretch between Gorakhpur and Ayodhya for
Rs.255 crore. Another 44 km stretch between Gorakhpur and Ayodhya would be four-laned
by Nagarjuna Construction Co for Rs.266 crore.
The third stretch of 43.7 km between Gorakhpur
and Ayodhya, whose contract is valued at Rs.262.6 crore, was bagged by B.

A 50 km stretch on NH-6, to be four-laned for
Rs.9.9 crore, between Kondhali and Talegaon in Maharashtra was awarded to
Oriental Structural-Delhi Brass Consortium, on BOT basis. The contract forms
part of NHDP-III (A) project.
