Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd has planned to set
up a special economic zone at Jaipur in Rajasthan. The project that would come
up in 3-5 years, will involve investments of over Rs.1,000 crore.

RIICO has the option of holding up to 49 per cent
equity stake. Of the total land requirement of 3,000 acres, around 1,000 acres
is already in possession of RIICO.
For the Mahindra Group, this would be the second
SEZ venture. The first Mahindra World City was inaugurated in September 2002 in
Chennai. The SEZ, was developed in partnership with Tamil Nadu Industrial
Development Corporation, covers 1,400 acres of land. It caters to three sectors
-- IT (services and manufacturing), apparel & fashion accessories and automobile
ancillaries.
