Larsen & Toubro has bagged fresh orders
worth nearly Rs.1,000 crore including two contracts valued at Rs.900 crore from
National Highways Authority of India for developing highways in Tamil Nadu and
Andhra Pradesh.
In Tamil Nadu, L&T will upgrade a link in
the Salem-Bangalore Section of NH-7 (km 156 to km 163), at an estimated cost of
Rs.525 crore. In Andhra Pradesh, it will undertake four-laning
of the Jadcherla-Kottakota section in Mehboobnagar district, involving a
contract value of Rs.370 crore. Both the projects
will be taken up on BOT basis with a concession period of 20 years inclusive of
construction period of 30 months.
L&T has also received a letter of intent
for construction of a passenger terminal building for the upcoming Shamshabad
international airport near Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.
ProjectsToday adds: The passenger
terminal building contract discussed above is a sub-contract, valued at Rs.261 crore, awarded by China
State Engineering (Hong Kong) Ltd. In August 2005, L&T and CSEHK had
independently bagged two major contracts for the Hyderabad airport project.
CSEHK had won the mandate for constructing the passenger terminal building,
valued at Rs.615 crore, while L&T was awarded a Rs.495 crore airside and
