A consortium of Gail (India), Oilex
of Australia and other Indian entities has won an oil exploration block in Oman.
A consortium of Gail (India), Oilex of
Australia, Videocon, HPCL and BPCL, have been allotted an oil block in Oman. The
consortium was awarded the onshore Block No.56 covering 5,809 sq km in south
Oman's salt area. Oilex, Gail and Videocon will have 25 per cent equity
participation each in the block with Oilex being the operator. HPCL and BPCL
equally hold the remainder.
The consortium has also bid for
another block (No.58), results of which are awaited.
