The Haryana state cabinet on 3 May 2006 gave
its approval to Reliance Industries for setting up a special economic zone near Gurgaon.
The project costing Rs.30,000 crore is coming up in association with the Haryana government.
A joint venture agreement is likely to
be signed between Reliance Industries and Haryana State Industrial Development Corpn by mid-May
2006. The two entities will form a special purpose vehicle to implement the
multi-product SEZ project.
The SPV will acquire
25,000 acres of land in phases. At the outset, the state government will
provide about 1,500 acres of land between Garhi Harsaru and Jhajjar to start off
the project.
