Apollo International, part of the Apollo Tyres Group,
is planning to set up container freight stations and inland container depots at various ports of the country. The project will
entail an investment of Rs.300 crore.
The company is in the process of
identifying suitable locations for the project and is keen on JNPT in Navi Mumbai and various locations in Kerala and North
India. Apollo is likely to invest Rs.150 crore for setting up CFS and ICD
facilities in JNPT and is acquiring 60 to 100 acres of land at JN port.
The company is also planning to set up
a distribution centre at JN Port which will include assembling, packaging,
repacking, grading and distribution and is in the process of acquiring land for
the project.
