The Kolkata-based BK Group has planned
to set up a 1.5 million tpa greenfield cement plant in Assam, which would be the
largest in the state, by current thinking.
A new company Calcom Cement India Ltd
has been incorporated to implement the project that is scheduled for
commissioning by March 2007. The following are broad project parameters:

Development Corporation (10 per cent)

Debt: Rs.268 crore (already tied up)

Current status: Machinery orders being placed
The BK Group (Chairman: Binod Kumar
Bawri) already has two cement plants in Assam, both in the Cachar region, with a
combined capacity of 0.3 million tpa. Two group companies -- Vinay Cements and
RCL Cements -- own these plants.
