Nuclear Power Corporation of India
would import 20 nuclear reactors in its endeavour to attain 40,000 MWe capacity
by 2020. Negotiations with USA, France and Russia are underway, it is learnt.
By 2020, NPCIL will have 62 nuclear
reactors with aggregate capacity of 40,000 MWe. NPCIL has also stated that
states like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Orissa, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar
Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have offered land to NPCIL
for its proposed nuclear power plants.
By end-September 2006, NPCIL aims to
identify sites for new coastal and inland projects.
