Madhucon Projects, on 19 July 2006,
signed a concession agreement with NHAI for developing the 125.70 km
Madurai-Arupukotti-Tuticorin section in Tamil Nadu on BOT basis.
The project, lying between km 138.8
and km 264.5 on NH-45B, is estimated to cost Rs.820 crore and is part of
NHDP-IIIA. The project involves a positive grant (payable by NHAI to the
concessionaire) of Rs.145 crore, representing nearly 18 per cent of the total
estimated project cost. The concession period is 20 years inclusive of
construction time of 36 months.
This is the longest stretch for which
a concession agreement has been signed under NHDP, so far, it is learnt.
With this, Madhucon now has four
national highway projects with a total length of 330 km, spread over Tamil Nadu
(three) and Rajasthan (one). The total cost of these four projects is around
Rs.1,800 crore and Madhucon will receive a total positive grant of Rs.410 crore.
All the projects are under implementation.
