Bharat Heavy Electricals, on 1 August
2006, secured a major contract from NTPC for setting up the first unit of 490 MW
of the National Capital Thermal Power Project (Stage II) at Dadri in Uttar
Pradesh. The project is slated for commissioning in fiscal 2009-10.
BHEL’s scope of work in the contract
envisages manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the main
plant package for the 490 MW power project. The equipment for the project shall
be supplied by BHEL’s Haridwar, Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhopal
and Jhansi plants, while the company’s Power Sector – Northern Region will
undertake the erection and commissioning of the equipment.
BHEL has earlier supplied and
commissioned boilers and steam turbine generators for the 4x210 MW Stage 1 of
the project. It was also associated with NTPC’s 817 MW combined cycle power
project at the same location.
For NTPC, BHEL is currently executing
contracts at:
- Kahalgaon (1,500 MW) -- Bihar
- Vindhyachal (1,000 MW) -- Madhya
Pradesh
- Talcher STPS (2,000 MW) -- Orissa
- Sipat (1,000 MW) --
Chhattisgarh
- Feroze Gandhi Unchahar (210MW) --
