Bharat Heavy Electricals in
consortium with MAN Turbo, Germany has bagged a Rs.106 crore order from
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) for supply of turbo blower package to be installed
at RINL's Vizag steel expansion project.
MAN Turbo, Germany will supply the
blower. BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages manufacture and supply of
a 45 MW steam turbine with associated auxiliaries and balance of plant, in
addition to site erection and commissioning of the complete turbo blower
package.
The proposed package will help raise
the capacity of the plant to 6.3 million tpa. The contract will be executed
within a period of 28 months.
BHEL's units at Hyderabad and
Bangalore will supply the equipment whereas the company's power sector-southern
region will undertake the site erection and commissioning activities. For RINL,
BHEL has earlier supplied and commissioned 3x63 MW steam turbine generators and
5x330 tonne per hour multifuel fired boilers.
