Tata Power Co is planning to foray
into nuclear power sector and is awaiting for approval from the Union
government.
It is learnt that Tata Consulting
Engineers will also be associated with the nuclear sector and Tata Power is
likely to partner Areva SA for the proposed projects.
Tata Power has a capital expenditure
plan of Rs.2,600 crore for 2007 and Rs.10,000 crore till 2010. By 2012 the
company is expected to produce 10,000 MW of power. In the wind sector too Tata
Power plans to add another 40 MW and is expanding its footprint to states such
as Karnataka and Gujarat. Currently Tata Power has two wind farms in Maharashtra
with a combined capacity of 45.1 MW.
