Indian Oil Corporation is planning to
set up an LPG import facility at the land allotted to it by Cochin Port Trust,
at Puthuvypeen in Kochi.
The project to be spread over 15 acres
of land, will entail an investment of Rs.170 crore. The IOC management has given
the approval for the project and the company is now awaiting for the formal
approval from the port authorities on the land allotment.
The proposed import facility will have
a capacity to handle six lakh tpa LPG, to cater to the LPG demand of the entire
Kerala and Tamil Nadu markets. It will handle bulk LPG arrived in ships and
stored in the terminals at the project site. Later it will be moved to the
bottling plant at Irumpanam near here by road by tankers.
