Siemens VAI Metal Technologies, India, along with Siemens VAI, France, has bagged an order from Tata BlueScope Steel to supply, erect and commission a colour coating line and a hot-dip zincalume line. These two lines will be installed at Tata Steel's production plant at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.

The hot-dip zincalume line will have an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh tpa and the colour coating line will be able to handle 1.5 lakh tpa of steel. For both the processing lines, Siemens will engineer and supply the mechanical and electrical equipment along with the basic and process automation. Siemens is additionally responsible for the installation work and will also supervise the commissioning.

The main equipment will be manufactured and tested in the Siemens VAI workshop in Montbrison, France, and the contract execution will be led by combined Indian and European teams.  The colour coating line is to start production at the end of 2009 and the hot-dip zincalume line will start from 2010.
