Bharat
Forge has signed an MoU with Areva on 28 January 2009, to form a JV to build a
manufacturing facility for heavy forgings in India.
The two
firms are yet to finalise the size of investment. Currently, they are evaluating
locations for the new facility. The plant is expected to be operational by 2012.
The plant will have a state-of-the-art 14,000 tonne open die forging press with
associated equipment and an integrated steel making facility.
The JV
will secure supply of heavy forgings, especially stainless steel forgings to the
customers. Heavy forgings manufactured by the JV will meet indigenous
requirements of the power generation sector, including manufacture of turbines,
generator rotators, steel plant rolls and demand from nuclear power plants.
