BHEL has reportedly scrapped its plans to manufacture (deep sea) offshore oil
rigs due to its inability to find a suitable partner.
The company could not get a partner for the proposed project as the
investments were heavy. However, the company is continuing its onshore oil rigs
business and is planning to expand it further.
Meanwhile, BHEL intends to focus on its power equipment manufacturing
business and it plans to augment its manufacturing capacity for supporting
15,000 MW electricity generation by the end of this fiscal.
