NTPC has signed an MoU on 13 July 2009 with the Chhattisgarh Government to
set up a 4,000 MW power project in the state.
The power plant to have five units of 800 MW each is to come up near Lara
village in Raigarh district. The project cost has been estimated at Rs 20,000
crore.
The plant is expected to be set up with super critical technology and be
environment friendly. NTPC is likely to give 50 per cent power to the state. The
construction work of the plant is likely to start soon and slated to be
completed during the 12th Plan.
NTPC has also signed two more MoUs with the state for an International
Institute of Information Technology and an Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
The ITI is likely to come up at Badola in Champa-Janjgir district under PPP.
