BHEL is likely to invest Rs 485 crore to expand its boiler division at
Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.
With the proposed expansion, the boiler division's capacity is likely to be
raised up to 15,000 MW from existing 10,000 MW per annum. The expansion is
scheduled to be completed by 2011. Post completion, BHEL is planning to start
making thermal and nuclear power plant boilers.
BHEL has set up a new boiler unit in Tiruchirapalli at an investment of Rs
732 crore. The new machines that have been ordered as part of the expansion plan
are expected to be installed in the new high pressure plant, which is slated to
be inaugurated shortly.
