Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM)'s new plant in Bangalore is likely to commence
production of its new Entry Family Car - the Etios - by December 2010. This car
represents the company's entry into the small cars segment in India.
TKM is investing nearly Rs 3,200 crore on the new plant and is likely to kick
start production with 70,000 cars, by December.
According to sources, the total number of cars produced at the plant, will
gradually increase to full capacity of 2 lakh, by 2013. The new plant will
exclusively manufacture the Etios, which will be launched successively in sedan
and hatchback markets in India first, and then abroad.
