The NHAI has reportedly sanctioned a new bypass for Trichy, Tamil Nadu, under
the four-laning project of the Trichy-Karaikudi section of NH 210.
The new bypass which is to be a semi-ring road is likely to be taken up under
BOT basis under the NHDP-Phase III A.
The new by-pass is expected to run from Thuvakudi area to the Mathur region
on the Trichy-Pudukottai highway and then on to Panchapur on the Trichy -Madurai
highway. Another by-pass is being laid between Panchapur and Jeeyapuram on the
Trichy -Karur highway. Once the new by-pass between NH 67 and NH 45 B is laid,
the city will almost have a ring road, with only the Trichy -Chennai Highway
being the missing link.
Currently, the exact alignment for the new by-pass is being finalised and the
land acquisition process is likely to commence shortly.
