The 2,000 MW nuclear power project of NPCIL at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu has
been delayed by a few months due to the hold-up in arrival of components for the
plant.
NPCIL is building two 1,000 MW light water nuclear reactors in Kudankulam,
about 600 km from Chennai, in Tirunelveli district with Russia supplying all the
components of the plant, including the nuts and bolts.
According to NPCIL, 95 percent of the physical work has been completed for
the first nuclear reactor and for the second unit it is 87.3 per cent. The
project is now likely to be completed by September 2010.
