Work on the main flyover built on GT Karnal road at Apsara border in Delhi is
nearing completion with opening slated for end-April 2010. The underpass
connecting the Anand Vihar side to Kalyanpuri at the Ghazipur crossing is to be
thrown open for public by end-May 2010. The project is being taken up at an
investment of Rs 226 crore.
The grade separator at Apsara border has components - a six-lane flyover, a
860-mtrs underpass along the Dilshad Garden-Anand Vihar stretch and a roundabout
on the existing road for right-turning traffic.
This apart, three foot over bridges (FOB) - one opposite Dilshad Garden metro
station and two on road no 56 and at road no 62 - are also to be built as a part
of the project.
The project is expected to improve connectivity to Vivek Vihar, Dilshad
Garden and Seemapuri significantly. While traffic heading from Seemapuri to
Ghaziabad will take the surface road, those going straight to Anand Vihar will
drive down the underpass.
