The proposal to construct a 1.8-km Metro spur linking Sector-5 to Gurugram Railway Station has been finalised and will soon be reviewed by Gurugram Metro Rail (GMRL).
After GMRL's consideration, the plan will be sent to the Haryana government and the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final approval. This spur, costing an estimated Rs 450 crore according to RITES, will replace the earlier plan for a skywalk connection between Sector-5 and the railway station. The extension aims to boost ridership by better serving commuters who use the Gurugram Railway Station for intra-city travel.
The new Metro station at the railway station will require over 1,000 sq. mtrs. of land, including private, government, and railway-owned areas. Additionally, the Bhondsi– Gurugram railway line’s DPR is being prepared by HMRTC, but will now terminate at Sector-5 due to the new spur connection.
