In a significant step toward sustainable development, a 54 kW solar power plant was inaugurated at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDUNIPPD) in New Delhi.
The project, launched under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), was established in collaboration with Legrand India. Secretary (DEPwD) Rajesh Aggarwal inaugurated the eco-friendly initiative and highlighted its importance in addressing energy needs through renewable sources. He stated, “This solar power plant reflects our collective commitment to environmental sustainability. It will not only meet the institute’s energy needs but also prove economically beneficial.”
Further, he emphasised that the project represents a major step toward energy self-reliance and aligns with the Government of India’s broader mission to promote clean and green energy. The solar installation is expected to reduce the institute’s carbon footprint while also lowering operational energy costs.
