The Odisha government has approved 55 new hotel and accommodation projects since July 2024, with a total investment of Rs 3,211.32 crore, marking a significant boost to tourism and hospitality infrastructure.
The approvals cover a mix of high-end five-star hotels, eco-resorts, and budget-friendly properties, with Bhubaneswar remaining a key hub. The government is also promoting development in tribal and remote areas such as Koraput, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Ganjam, aimed at scenic and ecological tourism. Major global and national brands like World of Hyatt, ITC Hotels, All Accor, Marriott Bonvoy, and Radisson Hotels are leading luxury projects, including a Rs 139 crore Hyatt project and a Rs 119.14 crore ITC property in Bhubaneswar.
Coastal destinations like Puri and Chilika Lake are witnessing luxury resort expansions, including a Rs 212.25 crore Marriott Bonvoy project and a Rs 110 crore ITC resort at Somolo Island.
