ACME Group is set to invest Rs 5,000 crore in a greenfield direct reduced iron (DRI) facility aimed at producing low-carbon steel products.
In the first phase, the plant will have a capacity of 1.2 million tonne per annum (MTPA), focusing on the production of green hot briquetted iron (HBI) and green direct reduced iron (GRI), which are key inputs for environmentally friendly steelmaking. The initiative highlights ACME’s commitment to sustainability and clean technology solutions in India, aiming to minimise carbon emissions in the steel production process.
ACME Group is considering setting up the prosposed facility in India or Oman, near its existing sites. The company is currently developing a green hydrogen facility in Odisha and is in advanced stages of building another in Oman. Headquartered in Gurugram, ACME's portfolio includes solar, wind, hybrid, and dispatchable renewable energy projects. Its operational solar capacity is 2,700 MW. The facility is expected to strengthen India’s capabilities in producing eco-friendly steel products, supporting the country’s transition toward greener industrial practices.
