Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has significantly increased its capacity utilisation from 25 percent in September 2024 to 79 percent by September 2025, marking a major milestone in its revival.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, during a review meeting at the State Secretariat, credited the achievement to the combined efforts of the Central and State governments, plant management, and workers. The meeting, attended by top officials including RINL CMD Ajit Kumar Saxena and Ministry of Steel Joint Secretary Abhijit Narendra, assessed the revival strategies and progress made over the past year. Naidu played a key role in securing Rs 11,440 crore financial aid from the Centre, of which a significant portion has already been released.
These funds have enabled the plant to undertake critical recovery initiatives. The CM praised the progress and set a new target of 92.5 percent capacity utilisation by the end of Q3. He also directed monthly and quarterly performance reviews to ensure sustained momentum and reaffirmed full State support for the plant’s growth.
