Accor, the French hospitality giant, will accelerate its expansion in India with a multi-brand strategy aimed at capturing growth in a fragmented and fast-evolving travel segment. The company currently operates 71 hotels across the country, including 30 in collaboration with InterGlobe Hotels.

Of these, 25 are Ibis properties offering around 4,600 rooms, a stronghold in mid-market segment. The Group has 40 new hotels in its development pipeline, underlining its long-term confidence in travel sector.

This week, Accor unveiled a new 440-room Fairmont Hotel in Mumbai, further cementing its presence in the luxury segment. The same complex will also house a Morgan Originals property with approx. 110 rooms, reflecting the Group’s intent to bring more diverse offerings to Indian consumers.

"We are going to add more brands. There will be an enormous display of Ennismore and the Handwritten Collection and MGallery Collection," Chairman and CEO Sébastien Bazin stated, highlighting Accor’s strategy to infuse the market with a broader experiential and lifestyle-driven hotel portfolio. New entrants like Ennismore, Morgan Originals, the Handwritten Collection, and MGallery are expected to appeal to India’s growing base of millennial and Gen Z travellers seeking boutique and curated stays.

By diversifying its brand mix and expanding across segments, from economy to luxury, Accor aims to consolidate its position in India’s competitive hotel space. The strategy also reflects a shift toward hybrid hospitality models and lifestyle-driven spaces that cater to evolving guest preferences.
