The construction of Agra Metro’s second corridor has progressed with the successful installation of the first pier cap at Agra Cantt, marking a significant milestone in the project.

Executed by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), this corridor spans 16 km from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar and is entirely elevated, featuring 14 stations currently under construction. The completion is targeted by mid-2026. The pier caps are being constructed using precast technology at a dedicated casting yard in Dauki. Each cap weighs 65 tonne and measures 9.6 mtrs. long, 2.9 mtrs. wide, and 1.8 mtrs. deep, lifted into place using a 400-tonne crane.

Senior officials from UPMRC, including Project Director Arvind Rai, along with representatives from Larsen & Toubro (L&T), attended the pier cap installation ceremony held on 17 May, 2025.

Meanwhile, Agra Metro’s first corridor, connecting Taj East Gate to Sikandra, is also under construction. This 14-km route comprises 13 stations, including six elevated and seven underground. Asix-km priority section between Taj Mahal East Gate and Mankameshwar Temple is already operational. Trial runs on four underground stations have been completed, and full corridor operations are scheduled to start by December 2025.
