Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Gamesa India’s blade and nacelle manufacturing facility at Nellore, on 3 February, 2017.
The manufacturing facility is being set up at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
The company has so far invested Rs 500 crore to set up the plant which will manufacture blades for its flagship product, G 114-2.0. The remaining investment will be made in future to set up a factory to manufacture nacelles. The plant will also produce inverters for solar power plants.
The manufacturing facility has created job opportunities for 500 people, and the number will double in a span of three years. The plant, which came up in six months, will mainly employ local people.
In addition, Trina Solar is also setting up a plant in the state and Windar, an associate company of Gamesa, will invest Rs 130 crore in the Sri City industrial estate.
