Andhra Pradesh is rapidly becoming a major hub for oil and gas exploration, with investments directed toward both onshore and offshore projects, especially in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin.
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, informed the Rajya Sabha that the state has secured USD 266.57 million in onshore projects and nearly USD 18,979 million in offshore ventures through collaborations with private and foreign investors. Highlighting progress, he noted that the KG-DWN-98/2 project is nearing completion and is expected to produce 14 million tonne of oil and 30.5 billion cubic mtrs. of gas.
Other key fields include Kavitam, Dangeru, Kaza, Bhimanapalli, Palakollu, and Surearaopeta, along with offshore blocks in the KG-SDSF series such as Chandrika, Ravva, GS-21, G3, GS-49, and YS-6.
The Minister said government reforms like the Hydrocarbon Exploration Licensing Policy (HELP), marketing and pricing freedom for natural gas, and incentives for early monetisation of discoveries have strengthened investor confidence, further positioning Andhra Pradesh as an energy hub.
