In a significant development for India’s space and aerospace sectors, the Andhra Pradesh government has granted in-principle approval for the establishment of a Space City at Routhusuramala village in Thottambedu Mandal, Tirupati district.
Spread across 2,600 acres, it will be the state’s first space-focused industrial cluster. The site is strategically located—just 15 km from Srikalahasti, 40 km from Tirupati International Airport, and 60 km from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, India’s key spaceport in Sriharikota. With connectivity to NH-16 and the Sri City–Srikalahasti Road, it presents a prime location for high-tech industrial development.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has made a decision to scrap land acquisition for the Aerospace Park near Bengaluru airport due to farmers’ protests. In response, Andhra Pradesh’s HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh invited aerospace companies to consider Andhra Pradesh.
