The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department of Andhra Pradesh has approved 11 new urban infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing urban livability and sustainability across the state.

These projects will be executed under public-private partnership (PPP), hybrid anuity model (HAM), and viability gap funding (VGF) frameworks to ensure revenue generation and efficient delivery. Key approvals include the development of waste-to-energy facilities in Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore, and Kakinada-Rajahmundry, a modern bus stand in Chittoor, and monetisation of land at Rushikonda along with a ropeway to Kailasagiri in Visakhapatnam.

These projects were finalised at a review meeting led by MA&UD Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar on 29 July, 2025, who reviewed a total of 30 potential projects. Additionally, the state government plans to undertake road development initiatives in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada under HAM, aiming to improve traffic management, road safety, and seamless urban transport.

Tourism-driven urban development projects are also set to be launched under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). Suresh Kumar emphasized that these efforts will bridge infrastructure gaps, attract private investments, and improve the quality of urban life while ensuring better outcomes through optimal risk-sharing in public service delivery.
