Andhra Pradesh has set a goal of installing two lakh rooftop solar connections by May 2026, under the PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana, with 1.5 lakh targeted for completion by March.

Chief Secretary Vijayanand has emphasized the importance of quality execution and consumer convenience, directing officials to fast-track renewable energy projects, including rooftop solar installations and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. He has instructed the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company  (APSPDCL) and the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) to expedite these initiatives, ensuring strict timelines and accountability. In addition, APSPDCL has been tasked with ensuring smooth meter installations.

The state is also implementing feeder solarisation projects, covering 2.9 lakh agricultural pump sets, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme. The efforts are expected to significantly boost renewable energy adoption in the region.
