Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has successfully commissioned a key inter-state transmission project designed to evacuate 8.1 GW of solar power from designated energy zones in Rajasthan.
The project, completed by its subsidiary, POWERGRID Bhadla Sikar Transmission, is part of Phase II – Part E of a national transmission strengthening scheme. Effective from 14 January, 2026, this milestone will significantly expand grid capacity, enabling large-scale integration of renewable energy and improving the reliability of power evacuation from Rajasthan’s solar hubs.
The project underscores POWERGRID’s crucial role in supporting India’s renewable energy goals and transmission infrastructure development. As a leading transmission utility, Power Grid Corporation plays a pivotal part in managing high-voltage transmission systems that ensure the smooth integration of power, including renewable sources, into the national grid, driving the country’s clean energy transition.
