India is taking a significant step forward in its green energy ambitions with the launch of Phases 3 and 4 of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC), aimed at enhancing renewable power integration into the national grid.
These new phases will focus on evacuating 150 GW of renewable energy, a substantial increase from previous phases. The project will require significant investment to bolster grid stability and capacity. The Green Energy Corridor is a key part of India’s strategy to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030. While Phase 1, which commissioned 20 GW of capacity, is nearly complete, and Phase 2 is underway, Phase 3 and 4 will extend the network further.
GEC Phase 2, set to be finished by FY27, will include new transmission lines and substations across critical states. Despite facing delays due to land acquisition and supply constraints, the government remains committed, and as officials note, these corridors are essential to India’s clean energy future.
