Andritz Hydro has announced the successful model test for Umiam Umtru-III hydroelectric project located at Kyrdemkulai in Meghalaya. The site is situated 40 km from Shillong. In March 2023, Andritz secured the contract for the renovation and modernisation of the plant through an international competitive bidding process, adhering to JICA guidelines.

Following the fulfilment of engineering requirements stipulated in the contract, the newly designed turbines underwent successful model testing in December 2023. The model testing was conducted at ANDRITZ's cutting-edge hydraulic laboratory in Linz, Austria. This pivotal phase took place in the presence of clients, Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation, and Rodic Consultant.

The company, a global supplier of electro-mechanical equipment and services for hydropower plants. aims to complete the project in Meghalaya within the scheduled timeframe. Upon its completion, the project will bring substantial benefits to the people of Meghalaya, and aid in the region's socio-economic development.
