inaugurated Apollo Tyres' tyre manufacturing unit near Oragadam in Chennai.
The newly inaugurated plant spread over 128 acre has come up at an investment
of around Rs 120 crore. It currently produces 7,000 passenger vehicle tyres and
1,300 commercial vehicle tyres per day.
The plant is expected to reach its full capacity in 2012. On attaining full
capacity, production is expected to reach 16,000 passenger vehicle and 6,000
commercial vehicle tyres per day.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to enter Eastern Europe. It may set up
greenfield manufacturing facility for passenger car radials or acquire an
existing facility in Eastern Europe. It already has a manufacturing unit -
Apollo Vredestein BV - in Netherlands.
