California lifestyle apparel brand Dockers has planned to open five stores in the first year of its entry to India. It will also expand into 14 cities through Shoppers Stop.
The products will be largely manufactured in India, the company will also take certain quantities from global Dockers supply chain. It will open its first store in Delhi, and would then come up with four more stores. Besides, it has an exclusive partnership for offline on the store side with Shoppers’ Stop.
India with its scale, growth and dynamics, could be the largest market outside the US for Dockers, which will pursue its expansion plan. Dockers has partnered with retail technology firm Ace Turtle to enter India and create offline and online presence.
Ace Turtle is looking at Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore for stores, before it expands to other cities. Ace Turtle recently raised USD 34 million (Rs 293 crore), and plans to use part of the capital for the expansion of Dockers.
