BEML, a leading Indian mining and construction equipment manufacturer, has announced a collaboration with Italy's Tesmec to introduce surface miner equipment for mining operations in India.

The partnership, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aims to bring advanced surface mining machinery to the country. Surface miners are specialised equipment used in open-cast mining, designed to cut and crush rock and soil without the need for drilling or blasting. The equipment provides an efficient, eco-friendly alternative to traditional mining techniques.

BEML, which already offers a wide range of mining machinery, including hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, and wheel loaders, is expanding its portfolio with advanced surface mining solutions. The company's foray into underground mining, with products like underground mine cruisers and load haul dumpers, further complements its comprehensive mining equipment offerings.
