The Bengal Gas Company (BGCL) has announced the expansion of its piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure across West Bengal.
By the end of this year, BGCL aims to connect around 25,000 households with piped gas and install 12 new CNG stations in the greater Kolkata area, increasing the total number to 30. Speaking on the company’s long-term vision, BGCL CEO Anupam Mukhopadhyay revealed plans to reach five lakh domestic gas consumers over the next five years. To support this growth, BGCL intends to establish approx. 90 CNG stations across the state.
State Industries Minister Shashi Panja inaugurated two of BGCL's latest CNG stations - Surya Filling Station at Bagbazar and Bela Energy Station near Ganesh Talkies—on Monday. During the event, she announced plans for four to five more CNG stations catering to buses in areas like Ultadanga, Tollygunge, and Neelganj before the upcoming festive season.
