Bharat Heavy Electricals bagged an
order from Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for setting a 1,600 MW
thermal power project at Obra in Sonbhadra district.
The proposed Obra C power project will
have two units of 800 MW each with an investment of Rs.6,400 crore. BHEL has
given in-principle approval for 50 percent equity participation in the project
and the rest of the cost will be borne by the state government.
The UP Thermal Power Generation
Corporation has already obtained coal linkage for the new plant, which will be
supplied from mines located in Jharkhand. The project is scheduled to be
completed in 36 months from the date of the award of the contract.
