Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged a contract from NHPC, Faridabad in competitive bidding for electro-mechanical works of Dibang Multipurpose Project 12x240 MW at Roing in Arunachal Pradesh.
In the agreement, BHEL would be involved in designing, engineering, manufacturing, supplying, erection and commissioning the electro-mechanical package, including turbine, generator, digital governing system, static excitation system, transformers, bus reactors, gas insulated switchgear, outdoor pot yard and switchyard equipment and electrical & mechanical balance of plant (BoP).
The contract, amounting to Rs 2,241.86 crore, is expected to be implemented within 75 months. The major equipment for the contract will be manufactured at Bhopal, Bangalore, Jhansi and Rudrapur plants. BHEL’s Power Sector-Eastern Region (PSER) division, Kolkata will be responsible for the on-site execution activities.
The electro-mechanical works encompasses two major contracts, of which, the first involves the ex-works supply of equipment, materials, spares, tools, and instruments. The second contract entails model testing as well as inland transportation, storage, handling, installation, and testing of the supplied equipment.
