The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) station, the sole underground stop on the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, has reached 84 percent completion in excavation, according to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL).
Excavation is being carried out up to a depth of 32.5 mtrs., equivalent to a 10-storey building, with the platform planned at 26 mtrs. underground. The station will feature six platforms, each approx. 415 mtrs. long, and three floors including platform, concourse, and service levels. Designed to reflect the Arabian Sea’s clouds and waves, the station will offer seamless connectivity with Mumbai Metro Line 2B and road networks via two entry/exit points.
The facility will prioritise passenger convenience with spacious concourses, ample amenities, and natural lighting through skylights. While construction progresses steadily, the Railway Ministry has yet to announce a final completion or operational date for the overall project.
