Kolkata-based sugar major, Balrampur Chini Mills (BCML), is planning to add 12.7 MW cogeneration capacity to its existing 128.5 MW capacity.
For the purpose, it will set up a new plant at Kumbhi in Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs 52 crore. The plant will be commissioned by March 2014.
Besides, Balrampur Chini Mills also plans to acquire a sick Khalilabad Sugar Mills in Uttar Pradesh with a debt liability of Rs 100 crore from the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). Khalilabad Sugar has a crushing capacity of 2,500 tonne crushed per day.
