Ashish Shelar, Minister for Information and Technology and Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra has announced the upcoming transformation of Bandra Reclamation, with a new Marina set to debut within two years.
This initiative, part of the ‘Bandra Bay’ waterfront development, will position Bandra as one of Mumbai’s premier luxury waterfront destinations, akin to Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah or Singapore’s Marina Bay. The project will feature ultra-luxury residential and retail spaces, spanning over eight million sq. ft., with a total development potential of over Rs one lakh crore.
The Minister emphasised a policy shift that streamlined development processes, with the area now under the Bombay Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction. Additionally, a Rs 1,000 crore investment will fund a wastewater treatment facility to protect the Arabian Sea’s quality, along with creating six acres of garden space atop the facility.
