Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has started rolling stock type tests on the Pink Line’s 7.5-km elevated section between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, with public operations expected from May.
These tests assess new trains and their components for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance through lab and on-track trials, covering crashworthiness, braking, and dynamic performance to ensure passenger safety. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) said mainline testing is a crucial step before commissioning, followed by validation of train performance and system integration under real conditions to secure statutory approvals. A six-coach train delivered by Bharat Earth Movers in December 2025 is being used for testing, expected to conclude by mid-April.
“During the above-mentioned period, traction and brake type tests, oscillation trials at various speeds, integration tests with signalling, and power and telecommunication systems, among others, will be conducted,” BMRCL stated. The 21.25-km Pink Line will feature 18 stations, including a 13.76-km underground stretch from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, targeted for completion by December 2026.
