The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is set to partially launch operations on the long-delayed Yellow Line between RV Road and Bommasandra by the end of August, 2025, with three trains.

The first phase will cover seven stations: RV Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Central Silk Board, Kudlu Gate, Hosa Road, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, and Bommasandra. Initial frequency is expected to be 20 minutes. The 19-km fully elevated corridor with 16 stations was initially scheduled for completion in December 2021 but has seen multiple delays. Pressure mounted recently for immediate service, prompting BMRCL MD M Maheshwar Rao to promise operations before August 15.

“We may receive five more CBTC trains by October. With those, we can operate the entire line with 8–9 minute frequency,” a source said. The fourth train from manufacturer Titagarh is expected by mid-August. BMRCL is awaiting the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certificate, followed by inspection from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), before operations can commence.
